I completely forgot it existed, then I saw one and it reminded me that it is a cool little car. It is sort of like a budget Evoque.

I love the Paceman, couldn’t even tell you why though. That leather is a beautiful colour.

I just didn’t get the rationale for having a 2 door Countryman, especially when there wasn’t any more space for the front row than in the Clubman or Hatch. It was also more expensive than the Clubman.
Besides, barn doors!

Everyone who complains about the size has never been around one in person. Yes, it’s not original Mini size, but I don’t think many vehicles will ever be that small again.

Only without the budget. When you kit them out to identical levels they aren’t too far off in actual price.

I configured both the Paceman and the Evoque how I would order them. The Evoque was 51K and the Paceman 35K, although I’m sure the Paceman can go higher, but so can the Evoque.

Well, equiv. levels, not how you would spec it. Though you are right that the paceman comes in a more basic form than the evoque. It sure is hard for me, still, to justify 35 large for a tiny car with abysmal build quality.

I liked the 2007-2014 Clubman. What is my favorite thing about the Paceman is:

Up there with one of THE worst cars I’ve ever driven..

Any specific reasons why?

Well I could be a bit biased.. I daily a Mini Cooper JCW, of which drives brilliantly; it corners at speeds you wouldn’t believe. The Cooper drives like a go kart... the Paceman drives like a bus. Ok, so its nowhere near as sporty as a Cooper, but when car enthusiasts think of the Mini brand they don’t conjure cars like the Paceman or Clubman; they kind of defeate the purpose of what the brand stands for: small, compact, sporty hatchbacks.

I liked the concept of it, until I learned that the All4 AWD is inactive above 40MPH, and barely active below that.
And for any options... it quickly becomes a 40K car... with modest horsepower at best.
I quite like the AWD 3-door compact CUV idiom... but Paceman is a bit too little punch for more than a bit too much money.
